Egypt: ANHRI condemns referring “Jihan Mansour”, Media-Figure, to the Misdemeanor court on charges of swearing at “El-Aryan”

ANHRI condemns the decision made by the attorney general “Abdelmegeed Mahmoud”, to refer the “Mansour” to the misdemeanor court due to accusations of swearing at the leader in the Muslims brotherhood group and freedom and justice party “Essam El-Arian”.

She was referred to the said court as “Arian” filed a report to the public prosecutor in which he accused her of publicly insulted him during the telephone intervention program “Sabahak Egypt” which she present on Dream TV and described him by the practice of fascism.

It is noted that the Attorney General had already decided to refer the “Arian” to trial before the Court of Misdemeanors due to a report filled by her in which she accused him of slander as he accused her of receiving funds from political trends in order to attack the Muslim Brotherhood. On November 24, will be the first day of the hearing.

ANHRI said that “the public prosecution should have considered the report filled by Arian from all its aspects, to reveal its malicious, especially as it’s very clear that it was filed to respond to her complaint against him in order to be referred to the competent court”

ANHRI refusing the persistence use of the right to sue to refer the media-figures, journalists and political activists in addition to others to the criminal trial due to doing their work and use their legitimate right to express their opinion. It also asserted that it will continue to provide the legal support to all the defendants in this kind of cases.
