ANHRI condemns the assassination of the journalist by armed men near his house in Damascus.

He was assassinated while he was heading to his newspaper on the morning of December 4, 2012 in front of his house in Tadamen area.

Despite he is retired since a year, but he is still writing in it. The last article was published on the morning of December 3, 2012. He was the editor in chief of the newspaper and the head of investigations department.

The pace of targeting journalists have escalated recently as well as has Assad’s prosecution against journalists and media professionals. The journalist Basil Tawfiq Yousef, November 22, 2012, was assassinated, he worked in the General Authority for Radio and Television Syrian, in addition to the assassination of a number of other journalists, Mohammed Saeed who works in radio and television, as well as journalist Ali Abbas journalist in Syrian Arab news Agency and Mohammad Ashram a journalist Syrian news.

A lot of headquarters of the news agencies suffered destruction and blasting such as: news Syrian which was attacked by armed men and led to  3 martyrs in addition to the destruction of its headquarters in Drousha, followed by an explosion in the building the Public Authority for Radio and Television. The building of the Ministry of Information targeted by mortar, in addition to target some media centers in Aleppo and Darah.
