Bahrian: the Regime Persists on Repressing the Peaceful Demonstrations

The Arabic Network for Human Rights information (ANHRI), denounces the security forces use of excessive force to deal with the peaceful demonstrations that took place in different areas in Bahrain demanding political and social reforms in the country in addition to release the detainees in the Bahraini prisons.

Bahraini security forces used the tear gas bombs and shotguns bullets to deal with the peaceful demonstrators on Friday February 22, 2013 after the security forces raid on “Deeah, Bouri, Sotrah, Sar, Bani Gomrah, Daraz and other areas, which resulted in several injuries among the demonstrators as a result of the violent dealing by the security forces.

The Bahraini security forces had established many security barriers in the areas after a young Bahrini guy, aged 20 years, died on February 22, 2013, due to some injuries that happened to him by the Bahraini security forces on February 14, 2013 as they directly shot him in his head by tear gas bomb, in an attempt of the security forces to prevent the demonstrators from accessing the funeral of the martyr, which the ministry of interior refused to give his body to his family.

Therefore, the number of the second anniversary of the Bahraini uprising become 3 martyrs, among them a woman died on February 13, 2013 as a result of smelling gases. On February 14 a 14 years old guy, 17 years old, died as a result of his injuries by shotgun bullets from a near distance. Moreover, on February 22, 2013, 20 years old guy, died as a result of injuries. In addition to, there are several serious injuries among the demonstrators, as on 22 February two persons were injured by live ammunition and they are in a serious condition.

In the context of the persistent repression of the peaceful demonstrators, the security forces repressed the peaceful demonstrations that took place in “El-Malkaheeh” in a tribute to the memory of the martyr “Abdulradah Bou Hmaid” who died two years a go, in addition to demand for democratic transition and get rid of the dictatorship regime.

ANHRI said that “the persistence of the security forces to repress the peaceful demonstrations of the citizens and the use of the excessive violence are worthless on the ground, as the use of the security solutions proved its failure with the Bahraini regime during the past two years, as these solutions increase the people determine to their legitimate demands of freedom and democracy”.

ANHRI added that the people aren’t afraid any more from the force that is used by the regime to deal with them, on contrary, the citizens are ready to sacrifice their souls for democracy and freedom”.

ANHRI called the regime to respect the freedom of expression and peaceful demonstrations in addition to the non-use of excessive violence in dealing with the peaceful demonstrators.
