Defendants in Shubra demonstration acquitted

Cairo – May 27, 2012

Road el-Farag Court of Appealed Misdemeanors revoked the primary sentence of two year in jail and a bail of 100 Egyptian pounds for stay of execution on May 27, 2012. The Court acquitted Mostafa Mohyee al-Deen, Mohamed Atef, Mohamed Nagi, Mostafa Shawki, Tamer Adel Abdel-Aziz, Ahmed Refaat, Diya al-Deen Ahmed Rabei, and Amr Ahmed Hassan in a case filed against them on the grounds of a demonstration in Shubra, a Cairo district, protesting the bombing of al-Qedeseen church in Alexandria in January 2011.
