ANHRI is pleased of the Bahrini activist Zainab al-Khwaja’s release after spending one month in jail for the “assembly” case. “Zainab didn’t commit a crime except for exercising her legal and constitutional rights and she deserves an honor and not detention,” said ANHRI that renewed its demand to release all prisoners of conscience in Bahrain by stating that “Bahraini people deserve freedom.”
Zainab had participated last December in a sit-in that was called for by activists in Dar Abu Saiba in Manama the capital. She was arrested by female police officers then was released yet again was arrested. She is the daughter of Abdul Hadi Al khwaja, a life sentenced activist, whose case received a world wide attention and great sympathy after nearly dying of starvation because of his hunger strike for 110 consecutive days.
On that occasion, ANHRI renews its demands necessitating the immediate release of all activists and dissidents who are languishing in the prisons of the Bahrain authorities as well the drop of the remaining charges against Zainab in two separate cases deliberated before the courts now, and also the charges against the human rights activist; Nabeel Rajab.
