ANHRI condmended the Libyan authorities to exclude a non-veiled anchor who was scheduled to present the transfer of power ceremony on Wednesday evening in Tripoli. Where she was  compelled to leave the room and the members of the Transitional National Concil to present the ceremony instead of her.

The ceremony to hand over power in Libya on Wednesday, August 8 witnessed an interesting phenomena, in which Mustafa Abdul Jalil, Chairman of the Transitional National Council of excluding anchor mandated to present the ceremony due to not wearing the Islamic head scarf and used make-up. He  prevented her from presenting the ceremony, which is a clear violation of individual freedoms and personal rights which the Libyan people struggled  to get them through the overthrow of dictator Muammar Gaddafi, who wasted the rights of the Libyan people and in spite of the confirmation of  Abdul Jalil, before being delivering  the speech during the ceremony, which was sent to the National Congress General,who was elected its members on the seventh of July, the respect for individual freedoms and work to consolidate.

ANHRI said that “the exclusion of this anchor from presenting a ceremony of handing over the power because of her appearance, is an assault on her personal freedom and her right to exercise its job and appear in the way she deems appropriate.”

ANHRI added “What happened with the anchor confirms beyond any doubt the setback of the transitional council of its promises, in which he pledge to protect individual rights and freedoms. The matter that contradict with these promises. It proves that that promises are just ink on a paper. That matter contradicts with  the sacrifices of the Libyan people to obtain his rights and to the advancement of the country in the revolution”.

ِANHRI calls the Libyan authorities to support and ensure the rights, personal and public freedoms and work to support democratic and non-discrimination between citizens on the basis of religious or tribal aspects.
