ANHRI condemns the attack on the journalists and the siege of the Media Production City
ANHRI denounces the act of a group of supporters of the President Mohamed Morsi and some youth of the Muslim Brotherhood, who demonstrated in front of the City of Media Production and assault them and tried to prevent them from performing their job due to their critical views against the Muslim Brotherhood and the performance of President-elect Mohamed Morsi.
The demonstrators had gathered – Wednesday – in front of the Media Production City, in 6 of October City, demanding the closure of the channel “Fareen,” and the trial “Tawfiq Okasha,” in response to the attack on the President of the Republic Dr. Mohamed Morsy, as well as attacking some journalists who have what they called “the remnants”. Where they were attacked the Chief-editor, of “Youm7″and the journalist “Khaled Salah,” , as he entered the city. They attacked him, smashing his car, in addition to other cars were in the place. They also attacked the media-staff, “Yusuf Hosseini,” and threatening to assaulting him and tried to prevent him from entering the city and chanted the demonstrators as well as attackers Media-staff “Amr Adeeb”.
“Khaled Salah,” went to 6 of October police station and filed a report against the head of the party of freedom and justice under no. 4963.
The majority of the media-staff accused Muslim Brotherhood of the assault and the freedom and justice party, of being incited for the attacks, while the group has denied that the demonstrators are of its members.
It is noteworthy that this is not the first incident, in which the Muslim Brotherhood are accused of plaining attacks on its opponents, where it was repeated with the human rights lawyer, “Negad El-Bori” and the former member of the parliament”Hamdy potter”
ANHRI said that “The attack on the media-staff because of their opinions is the bullying and unacceptable. We must not pass without punishment and the leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood and the Party of Freedom and Justice must investigate this matter and do not let him just pass as the methods of the Mubarak regime to abuse opponents and different with him in opinion ”
ANHRI added “all the parties must respect freedom of expression and response to the phenomenon of the use of violence to face the different opinions, especially that the word fir word and if there is an error worth of accounting must be made within the framework of law.”
ANHRI calls to immediately investigate these attacks, stressing on the need to provide protection for the media-staff during the performance of their job.
