Saudi Arabia: Arrest of a citizen because of Posting his Experience at the Prison on Twitter

ANHRI denounces the arrest of the citizen “Fahid Saad Al-Otaibi,” on the morning of Wednesday, August 8, 2012 due to postings on the networking site meeting “Twitter” in which he narrated story related his experience of abuse and torture during the detention before.
The Saudi security authorities arrested Fahid Saad Al-Otaibi at the eight-thirty on the morning of Wednesday, August 8, 2012, where a number of men in civilian clothes arrested him when he got out of his house after they attacked him severly and took him to an unknown destination. During a phone call with him his family said, “Al-Otaibi, that he “is in the Police Department,”Criminal Investigation”, he does not know the charges against him and they asked him to hire a lawyer for him. He added that the security services will transfer him to another unknown place.”Al-Otaibi, “was arrested previously in a political prison affiliated to the General Investigation for a year and four months without trial.
Anhri said that : “The arrest of Al-Otaibi in this way due to his activity on the social network website”Twitter”, where he posted details of the abuse and torture suffered by him during his time at the prison. He psoted a video addressing the families of the detainees, explaining what they may be encountered by their sons from  torture and abuse in Saudi prisons, “which exposes the brutal Saudi regime violations condcuted against its people, which deemed to be a violation of all conventions and human rights treaties.
ANHRI expresses its resentment from the continued intense hostility of Saudi Arabian regime against the freedom of the Internet in particular, the public freedoms and lack of attention to reform the human rights file until it has become a regime lives on the suppression of freedoms and the rights of citizens.
ANHRI said that the Saudi regime must immediately release “Al-Otaibi,” to guarantee his safety
and not pursuing him legally after that due to trumped-up charges.
ANHRI also calls the activists interested in the freedoms from all over the world to shed the light on what this committed by this suppressive regime against its citizens and not to leave him comfortable by suppressing in the dark.
