UAE: 6 New Activists are Prisoned, the Number of the Prisoners of Opinion and Conscience Reach 57 Activists

ANHRI condemns the arrest of the UAE authorities to a number of activists and reformers during the last two days without clear charges continuing its campaign to arrest the activists and reformists who became 57 activists.

UAE authorities arrested 6 activists and reformists; “Abdulaziz Harb El-Mehri” the writer and the activist, “Ahmed Awad El-Sharky” guidance of the school administration, “Ali Abdulallh El-khagah” business man, “Gamal Awad El-Sharky”, “Abdullah El-Gabry” and “Rashed Khalfan Ibid bin Sebt” after searching some of their houses without pressing any charges to the detainees.

Since July 2012 witnesses a wide arrest campaign to several activists and reformists without committing them to any trial unti now. These a few days after the statement of the UAE attorney general in which he stated that “the authorities arrested a group of people, did not declare their names or number, due to allegations or establishing and administrating an organization aims to commit crimes against the state security, in the light of media black-out related to the arrests of the activists and reformers in the country. “Mohamed El-Roken” a rights’ lawyer among the protesters.

In addition, UAE persists its blatant violations against the detainees and their families. The authorities threaten the women of the detainees due to their tweets on twitter, calling for the release of their relatives in addition to the media campaign to distort their image through broadcasting false news about them in order to make them lose the public support for them and for their calls.

ANHRI said that “the continuing of its severe attack against the activists and reforms as well as the arrest of a lot of them during the recent period, attempting to infanticide the popular movement, reforms demands and silence the voice of the criticizes in fear that it could be affected by the Arab spring”.

ANHRI calls the UAE for the immediate release of all the prisoners of opinion and conscience imprisoned in the prisons without charges, trials or publishing its accusations against the activists and presenting it to public and fair trials.
