ANHRI strongly condemns the imprisonment of “Fayza Rafsangany” the Daughter of the Expediency Discernment Council Chairman due to accusations of Spreading Propaganda against the Ruling Regime on yesterday September 23, 2012.

The authorities have arrested the daughter of the former president and the current chairman of the Expediency Discernment Council yesterday to execute the sentence of imprisoning her for six months due to accusations of spreading propaganda against the ruling regime.

On last January she was convicted and she was imprisoned for six months. In addition she was banned from exercising any political activity for five years. According to some, the reason was an interview with opposition news website, in which she referred to the violations of the human rights committed by the regime. She also referred in the same interview to the deteriorated social situation in country. She was also detained for short period due to her participation in the demonstrations that took place after the winning of “Ahmedy Nejad” by the second term, as there were allegations that elections were forged, as she delivered a speech before the “Mer Hussien Mowasay” supporters, the candidate who lose the elections.

ANHRI said “the persistent of the regime to suppress its opponents deemed to be a serious violations to the freedom of opinion and speech”.

ANHRI added “the authorities should respect the right of the female political oppositions and other female activists of the freedom of opinion and expression. It should stop the policy of the politician state to prosecute, confinement and imprisonment the political figures and banning them from practicing their political rights”.

ANHRI declared that “the persistent in the policy of suppression and silence the voices will only increase the female activities determination to take their rights of freedom of opinion and expression. The Arabic spring countries deemed to be the best example for that”.

ANHRI calls “the authorities to immediately release “Fayza Rafsangany” and the rest of the female political prisoners like “Shiraz Nazar Ahari, Jila Bin” and others who are currently in the prison.
