Syria: The Regime of Asad Crimes Continue, the Security Forces kills a Journalist in his House and the Intelligence Raids Newspaper Headquarter

Cairo September 24, 2012

ANHRI strongly condemns the assassination of the Photographer and the Journalist “Abdel-Karim El-Awkedah” in his house in the city of Hamah. ANHRI also condemns the “Syrian Intelligence” raid on the “Teshreen” newspaper headquarter and search it after forcing the staff to leave it.
On Wednesday September 19, 2012 the security forces invaded the house of the journalist and killed him, deliberately, accompanied with three of his friends. He was a journalist and photographer in the city of “Hamah”.  After killing them they incinerated the house. Different sources asserted that he was working for “Sham” website and he was targeted due to participation in transferring the events of the Syrian revolution through 1000 videos, of which he shot and upload under a name of “Abu Hassan”.
In the same night the elements of the intelligence invaded the headquarter of “Teshren” newspaper, located in the El-Medan neighborhood in the capital of Damascus”. The elements ordered everyone to leave before they searched it. It is worthy to be mentioned that this is the second time in a week to invaded a headquarter of a newspaper by the intelligence, as at the first time they said we were looking for a wanted person.ANHRI said that “killing of any citizen by cold blood is a brutality that can’t be ignored, in the sea the Syrian blood that do not make any difference between a victim and another. We consider the crime of “El-Awkedah” because of two reasons, first he was killed on the hands of security elements and secondly because the crime meant to be blacked-out all the regime daily crimes against its people, through getting rid of all the sources of information on the earth, of which El-Awkedah was one of this sources.
ANHRI added that “the Syrian regime is desperately seeks to black-out the reality of its crimes from the outside world. It launched a terrorist bloody campaign against the local and international journalist, in addition to the newspapers institutions. The regime uses all the suppressive tools starting from arresting journalists, confiscating their tools, fabrication of accusations against them and kidnapping some of them without providing any information related to them. The regime would not hesitate to kill any body that it can’t shut him”.
ANHRI said that “the world society must stop its hesitation and protect the civilians, journalists and correspondents, as it represents a protection to the right of the millions around the world to know what is going on the ground in Syria”.
ANHRI says “we believe that the crimes of the regime are worthless, whatever its brutality, and the Syrian people will achieve its desire to freedom from this regime, as the Tunisia, Egypt, Libya and Yemen”.
