Oman: Adjourning the Appeal of a group of Activists to the hearing of November 14, 2012

Muscat Court of Appeal adjourned the hearing to listen number of citizens in the case of the assembly to November 14, 2012.

The Primary Court of Muscat had issued a verdict, in the hearing held on August 8, 2012 against 11 activists on charges of assembling and traffic disruption, of one year imprisonment on each of activists and 200 RO as a fine and a bail of thousand RO to stop the execution of the judgment until the appeal.

The activists are “Said bin Sultan bin Ali Al-Hashimi”, Director of the Department of Information of the State Council and the female legal adviser “Basma the daughter of Mubarak bin Saeed Kiyumi”, “Basma Rajhi” researcher at the Administrative Affairs at the Ministry of Education, “Nasser bin Saleh bin Khamis Ghilani” Media and publishing Consultant  at the authority of information Technology, “Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Abdullah Ghilani” air traffic control officer at Muscat International Airport, “Badr bin Nasser bin Ali Al-Jabri” Member of studies and follow-up at the office of the General Manager of Information Technology, Ministry of Education, the engineer at the Municipality of Sahar “Khalid bin Salehbin Abdullah Nawfali “, ” Mahmoud bin Hamad Al-Thani Rawahi ” Arabic language teacher at the Ministry of Education, ” Mukhtar bin Mohammed bin Saif Al-Hinai ” technical supervisor  at “Zamn” newspaper, “Mohammed bin Khalifa bin Salem Fazari” student at Sultan Qaboos University and “Mahmoud bin Mohammed bin Nasser Aljamoda” health supervisor I at the Ministry of Health. They were accused of assembling and disrupting traffic as well as charge El- Rajhi of insulting an official due to their participation in the demonstrations that took place in Oman during last June, calling for the release of activists who have been in detention without any charges only their solidarity with the detainees.
