    For the second year, Algerian police prevent printing the Algerian journalist Mohamed Benchicou book

    The Arabic Network for Human Rights Information(ANHRI) condemned today, Algerian police order issued last days to prevent, for the second time, the book of great Algerian journalist Mohamed Benchicou from publication. the book titled" free man journal" . the police order resulted in depriving the journalist and his book from participating at the 13th International Book Fair in Algeria, which supposed to take place from 27 October to 5th November 2008.

    This is the second time Algerian police use such rude censorship, previously, at the same time the last year, police had ordered to stop printing " Algeria prisons" book for Benchicou , in a blatant intervention in publishing affairs, which assumed to be protected by the Algerian constitution that outlawed confiscation and censorship if not come as judiciary orders.

    The refusal to print Benchicou new book represent part of a series of restrictions and harassment Algerian government undertake Benchicou, for he had been in prison for two years, from 2004 to 2006, and his newspaper " Le Matin ", was closed down two years ago, as part of revenge against him for release a book titled" Bouteflika : Algerian trick" in 2004, in this book, Benchicou courageously criticized the prevailing corruption in Algeria, specially in the time of the current president Abdelaziz Bouteflika

    The Arabic Network for Human Rights Information said" prevention Bin Shaikho book from publishing confirm clearly what Bin Shaikho criticizes, absence of law and dominating corruption, and we would like Bin Shaikho know that his message is received, and we strongly support you and your stance".
