The First Women's Entertainment Show in Riyadh in more than 30 years
20/11/2005 Saudi Arabia has organized a women's show; an event that is considered to be a president in the last thirty years. During the sixties and seventies, cinemas and theatre houses used to exhibit a wide range of movies and shows until some conservative Islamic group have organized a strong campaign to close cinemas and theatres, an act which led a big amount of nationals to travel to neighboring countries during feasts and vacations to watch movies and shows. The show, which is called "They're finally back", has been displayed in El Fahd Cultural Center in Riyadh in celebration of the Muslim Sugar Feast. The show has been met with an unprecedented interest on the part of Saudi women to the extent that all tickets have been sold even before the commencement of the show in spite of all the speeches and messages declaring it as a sin and warning Saudi women from watching it. |
