An International Award to the journalist and opinion prisoner Abdel Karim Al-Khaiwani
8/9/2008
On the coming 18th of October, the President of the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), Jim Boumelha, will visit Sanaa to hand in an award from the AMNESTY International for endangered journalists (2008) to Abdel Karim Al Khaiwani, a journalist and an opinion prisoner.
Al-Khaiwani will be the first to win such new prize from the AMNESTY International, considering that he is an endangered journalist.
This prize is awarded by a group of activists and specialists from the AMNESTY International organization, which is located in the United Kingdom (U.K.); the winning journalist will be hosted, except for Al-Khaiwani, who is in prison, which will make the celebration take place in Sanaa just to convey the message that he is not alone, however all those who are concerned with the press freedom are backing him up.
