The trial of the journalist Mohamed el Maqaleh starts on Sunday, 7th of February, 2010, in the specialized Algerian court; the State Security Court.
Maqaleh was abducted on the night of the 17th of September, 2009. The authorities did not only refused to reveal his place but denied even to have him in its custody for over three months until the President, in late December, 2009, admitted the presence of Maqaleh in the custody of the government in a meeting with the parties' leaders (known as the Coalition of the Opposition).
Maqaleh revealed to the Secretary General of the Journalists' Syndicate, Marwan Demag, that he was exposed to different types of physical assault and torture that caused him to bleed.
Maqaleh stayed for three months with blood stains on his clothes since his abduction. Also, his abductors performed a simulation for his execution twice. In addition, he was isolated in an old house where he went on a food strike for 16 days which strongly affected his health.

The phrase "the era of the late King Mohamed VI" causes Boushrin to be interrogated
The Morrocan newspaper Akhbar al Youm stated that the security authorities demanded an apology from Boushrin for writing the phrase "the era of the late King Mohamed VI" in a column in the newspaper on Friday. This phrase has caused the journalist Boushrin to be interrogated for seven hours in the state security in Morocco.
According to the newspaper, "it was only a typing mistake"
Kasr ElNil misdemeanor court upheld the sentence issued in November 2009 to seize the novel Metro and fine author Magdy El Shafei and publisher ,Mohamed Sharkaoui, LE 5000 each.
The case dates back to April 2008, when morality police (a department of interior ministry) seized hundreds of copies of the novel "Metro". South Cairo court chairman supported the seizure and confiscation of the novel, and referred the author and the publisher to trial after accusing them of "manufacturing and distributing Publications contrary to public morality ".

Giza Criminal Court issued two successive prison and fine sentences against Yasser Barakat editor of “AlMougaz” weekly . The first was issued by chamber 9 sentencing Barakat to six months and a LE 20,000 fine in an insult and libel case filed by Mustafa Bakry editor of “AlOsboa” weekly due an article in AlMougaz titled, “Surprise for MPs”, on issue #94 dated 15/1/2008.
On the other hand chamber 13 sentenced Barakat to six months and a fine of LE 40000 in another libel suit by Bakry because of an article published on issue #98 dated 12/2/2008 titled, " Oh Mighty Lord to thou I confine my weakness”.
